Getting Started with Network Marketing....Slow Down

It is 2008 and gas is nearly 5 dollars a gallon, thousand of people are flocking to the Internet to get starting the home business industry. If you are reading this article you are one of them.

During your quest you are most likely going to encounter numerous MLM businesses. As you start to sort through the thousands of programs out there, what are you going to do? Slow down do your research and don't jump into anything untill you are confident that you done ALL your homework.

Before you get started i've prepared a couple questions to help you in your research. What kind of business will suit you? How much time or money are you willing to invest to get started? Which MLM companies are the best? Does the company have a quality product that is in demand? And last but not least, is the compensation plan built to suit you as the business owner or build to suit the company? Remember these are just a few amongst the hundreds of other questions. But, these are enough to get you started asking your own questions.

First things first. What is an MLM Company? A multi-level marketing or networking company is one of the fastest growing businesses today. They uses the resources of independent distributors to market their product or service based on commissions. Actually, Multi-Level Marketing is not a business in itself, but a way to market a product. To earn more commissions you will want to find more distributors who will also distribute the product, you will be paid a percentage of what they earn.

There are numerous formats that MLM companies follow. The format being most popular right now is the binary system, binary meaning two legs. You will start with two legs and continue to build on them, getting paid commissions typically on the volume of the lesser leg. Some systems will allow you to grown infinitely and some will stop commissions at a certain level within your down line. Now you ask, what is volume? What is a down line? Volume is the amount of product that is distributed. Each item or service for sale is awarded with a volume amount. For example one case equals 100 PV (personal volume). The commission is a set percentage of that volume. A down line is all the people that have come into your organization or team. These are the people who you will be earning commissions from, and helping you build your business faster and stronger.

MLM businesses have been around for many years, but are now experiencing a major shift to the Internet. Putting an end to the old "face to face" sales. With the use of a new coined phrase, Web 2.0 technology, the use of social networking sites like MySpace and Facebook and highly populated media sites like Youtube and Metacafe are being used to promote product sales and business growth.
